". . . while others have slunk away and said, 'It is too hard. I must have this and that in my ordered life. I am not here to work through the day and the night, to neglect my family or my this or my that.' Beloved hearts, I have stood by and literally wrung my hands as I have seen cowards reborn, called 'wimps'—who are wimps, for they are spineless—fail to understand a period of sacrifice or even to comprehend that there must be a means of separating the 'humans' from the Sons of God, the goats from the sheep.

"Do you not remember how those were chosen to fight the battle, those who carried sword and armour? Blessed ones, they were told to drink of the waters of the river. And those who laid down their swords while they drank were cast aside, and those who kept their swords were chosen.

"As Morya said, we have a right to test and know the mettle of our chelas apart from the glory and the drama of an exclusive property in Malibu and a famous leader—or infamous, as they have attempted to make her and myself. We have a right to know who will survive a nuclear war among you and who will be the crybabies—and I tell you, we have discovered it!

"And there is no other word but failure for those who cannot rise to the occasion of sacrifice when the very angels of Sanat Kumara stand by with their flame in hand ready to transfer it to a heart if that heart would only cry out and say, 'O God, give me the strength to fulfill this task for Saint Germain!'

"Thus you understand my silence during which many have asked: What is Saint Germain doing with his new dispensation? When will he speak of it? Thus, beloved, I speak of it when I know that I have hearts who can be trusted and who are not here for the merry-go-round or the titillation of senses.

"Let it be known that there were outcasts in Israel and there are outcasts today. Let it be known that there are those who may still go down in ignominy preferring their satin beds and creature comforts, and there are those who will stand and still stand as my minutemen and -women of the hour.

"Thus, first of all, let the criticism of the Messenger and of the strictness of our order cease. Let it be understood that we have drawn the line in the entire Community, including in Montessori international. Let chelas come to our school. Let nonchelas be not pampered by their parents or by themselves.

"Blessed hearts, whether you are parent or Community member, do not point the finger at our decision, our discrimination, and our discernment. The battle at hand is frightful. We draw a circle of light and we demand that those who choose to be in it cease their bellyaching, cease their fantasies concerning members of the opposite sex, cease their human consciousness and recognize that in the time it took to play this piece, the 'Rakoczy March,' blessed hearts, in that short a time, you could cease to exist through a nuclear first strike.

"Now, if you desire to dally in your demanding of rights for creature comforts another round, I suggest you contemplate just how much dalliance there will be in the world that is left. And I shall not speak of it again! The discipline of Maitreya be upon you and your own woes as well! For I, Saint Germain, am not permitted to engage my vow with God with you when you have proven or prove yourselves faithless
—faithless to our covenant or rule of order in this Community.

"This year has seen leaders of local study groups becoming involved in affairs with new students, both leaving the Path, thus using the energy of the altar either for psychic channeling and delivering private messages from the Masters to their little groups or for the arousing of the untransmuted baser energies. It is well-known that the Holy Ghost and the power of the Brotherhood that does go forth will indeed activate all momentums of Darkness as well as of Light. This is why we have Keepers of the Flame Lessons. This is why we have studies and disciplines. It is necessary to remember them. It is necessary to guard oneself.

"How can so great a Light as Sanat Kumara come into your midst when the very presence of the Light causes you to criticize your neighbor or to lust after another man's wife or to neglect your own family? Keepers of the Flame, be on guard!

"This is my final opportunity and I guard it well. Therefore, you also should understand that you keep the flame of Maitreya and you ought to be concerned when you observe violations of the flame and recognize that your silence on human compromise, seeking popularity, places in jeopardy the entire Community. There are none so fooled and so damned (which means judged by the Law) as those who allow human rationalization to compromise the most basic principles of our Path.

" . . . for all that has been given and gone forth there is a desire on the part of our students to appropriate the light to their private uses and to mold a new image and a new way of life for the Community that is apart from the path of chelaship which Morya has established. And not the example of the Messenger or the qualified staff has in any way deterred those who have said, 'We will do it our way. We will prove that we can take the Teachings and do it our way. We will show that these rules and principles are no longer prevailing.'

"Beloved ones, thus does begin the compromise of the founding principles of every religion. Beware of it. We know of the psychics and other religious leaders who take our teachings, our books, and our decrees and blend them with their version of an anti-Guru, anti-Christ path. So they have said, in Germany and elsewhere, 'Why can we not take the decrees and the songs and leave the rest? We do not need the Messenger. We have our own messengers and our own seers.' Thus, beloved, no graver mistake has ever been made than by those who stand neath the boot of the Soviet, only miles from the border.

"If you speak of apathy and indifference, speak, then, of somnambulance! Speak of those who sleep in their pride of intellect and of the false theologians who have come out of that nation, always destroying the spirit and confounding the innocent with their misuse of the letter.

"Blessed hearts, it is a shame to turn aside my mouthpiece. It is a shame to look at human idiosyncrasies or the pressures upon this instrument and to judge by some imagined divine standard that the Messenger does not measure up. Beloved hearts, early in her training—very early, in an hour when the burden of the bearing of world karma was too great for Mark Prophet to bear—this Messenger, by the age of twenty-three, was bearing the burden of half of the weight of planetary karma with Mark.

" . . . If you consider how so easily you are drawn apart by the machinations of your own mind to stray from my heart though you love me still, let me tell you, beloved, those who have a little more karma, a little less light are swept away by false-hierarchy impostors of myself who cleverly, cleverly disguise themselves as teachers of righteousness. The personality cult and the hypnosis practiced by the leader is all-enveloping. It must have your forthright decree work.

" . . . I speak, then, to those who weary themselves, their families, and us in the prolongation of their psychological problems and their physical ailments. Blessed ones, if you will remember sins committed against you by another, I can only say, God pity you, for you contain the seeds of your old age and your demise. I say, God pity you who have not known me or the violet flame!

"And I have cried out to many a disturbed person who has come, disturbed by the very fact of desiring to manipulate others and thereby attracting to himself demons, possessing and otherwise, and I have said, 'Is there not a violet flame? Have you not called to the violet flame? Do you not believe in the violet flame? Have you no mercy upon your God, your family, the angels who tend you? Where is the violet flame? Where is mercy?' And this is what the Law will not allow—the unmerciful servant, the unmerciful heart, the one who says he forgives but never forgets and thus has not transmuted the wrongs of a true brother of Light.

"Blessed ones, we all, I included, have passed through many periods in the human consciousness in many embodiments for which we have no pride. And when we look at these moments, we are grateful for the Holy Spirit, the violet flame, and those who have sponsored us. Thus, if there were to be held against me or you all of the foibles and mistakes of all past lives, there would be no salvation.

" . . . And let there be less animal magnetism in this Community. Let God act in your life and do not so easily succumb to Death entities who come in the guise of sympathetic attractions, involvements, the tying up of one's energy, et cetera, et cetera."

"You may think you make no progress here or there. You may become discouraged. You may think you have not a friend in heaven or on earth. But I tell you, when you have enrolled as a Keeper of the Flame, pledged to keep the flame of Life and of the Great White Brotherhood upon earth, you do have that sponsorship.

"You can 'thin' the sponsorship by breaking the laws of God and the code of conduct for a true disciple of Christ, a true bodhisattva of Gautama Buddha. But, beloved, you have the same means [for 'thickening' the sponsorship] as do all other devotees in the world, the means of confession, repentance and penance.

"Therefore, do not hesitate to come before the altar of God. Do not hesitate to receive that living flame. Do not hesitate to put all things in order in your life, to pay your debts diligently, human and divine, and to communicate with the Messenger or the ordained ministers of this Church Universal and Triumphant."

"Now be seated as I give you your chelaship test for the quadrant of the year inaugurated by the spring equinox. Yes, beloved, your test is to write down, following this dictation, all that you remember and then to check [what you have written] against the dictation and to see how you scored. Then listen to the dictation again, and again write [down what you remember]. Listen to it until you can recount from beginning to end what I have said without looking at your notes or the transcript.

"The mind must be trained. Is your mind a stallion?

"I say it ought to be, and a mighty good steed. But even stallions need training. Therefore I say, train the mind! Empty it and let it be filled again! Empty it and let it be filled! Train the memory and go after that which does not work to your satisfaction.

"Do not think, 'Well, this is the way I am, and Morya will have to take me or leave me.' Well, if you are in that frame of mind, you may find that Morya will leave you! For there is no room for Morya to step into your four lower bodies."

"Every facet of life takes on the aspect of challenge to those who daily strive to be more like Him. But this is not a challenge of discomfort, it is one of hope. The very fact that the individual can improve regardless of his station, that he can change his concepts, his vibratory action, and the contents of his mind as he would his garments is a sign of hope and a portent of delight.

" . . . Each person should realize that the higher intelligence within himself is capable of making accurate decisions as to when he should speak and when he should be silent, when he should offer a helping hand and when he should withhold it. There are times when nothing is as important as a physical gesture of assistance to another, and at other times there is nothing so dangerous. Some of the best gifts that can be given to men are inward gifts such as the communication of the highest vibrations of hope and comfort.

"The consciousness of the individual should become like a grail, and the knowledge that flows into the grail consciousness should draw more and more of the regenerating Christ consciousness into the domain of the self. Certainly it is true that if a man ask of God bread, he will not give him a stone. Therefore consider the fact that constructive endeavor always receives the necessary support spiritually, morally, and materially proportionately as one accepts the highest sense of his mission in a spiritual manner.

" . . . Move on, then, to understand that which you can be; for out of the expectancy of hope is born the implementation of faith that establishes the borders of self right where charity is. When the meaning of true love is known, it is found to re-create that supreme moment when the innocent soul cried out with divine wonder, 'Because thou art, O God, I AM!' Thus we see the links of identity, intelligence, power, and love uniting all to the oneness that is God."

"It matters not your age—whether you are an octogenarian or in the first few months of life. Those who receive my Word, those who receive the seed matrix of my delivery, will know! For I AM appearing to all who should have and make this statement in this life as a vow to Mighty Victory and all who came to the Royal Teton from Venus on that very night!

"Blessed hearts, Portia and I will come to you. We will come to everyone upon this planetary body. We will come, therefore. And you may respond. And you may recite the Word of the Son of God:

"Lo, I AM come to do thy will, O God!

" . . . We are determined that all who hear these words, all who are in this activity, realize that this is an activity for those who sincerely desire the ascension, who will walk the Path, who will meet its requirements—who will not in any way resist that Truth! It is not an activity for the fallen ones to hide in the skirts of the Mother, to come to the altar for light and to misuse it! It is not an activity for those who are the curious or those who, like Nicodemus, are fascinated with the teaching—and their fascination is not love, but it is curiosity.

"Those who take the teaching as an intellectual path will not endure. I say, therefore, those of you who have concealed your own despising of the Word have been exposed by the Lord Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday! All throughout the earth have thus been exposed. Think not that you are not seen.

"Blessed hearts, I admonish you with Alpha, the time is short! And therefore, do not come to me with your mouths but with your hearts. And if your hearts are with me, then you will not continually commit those blunders that would, if they could, saw asunder the very activity which you profess to serve! If you are with me in your heart, you will not be continually rebellious or questioning or querying, but you will take positive action for me as I have sent you forth to do.

"Let those who cannot plant their feet firmly on this Path or affirm the heart as one with the heart of God take, then, another path. For you make karma when you remain and tarry with us and yet have ulterior motives. Better for you that you go elsewhere and make some human progress and prepare for the day when you will ultimately meet God than to pretend to be followers of the Word when you are not only its despisers but its users."

"I ask you to understand that each one of you has a soul and that that soul is known by every lifestream in embodiment on earth. It is not only the Messenger who is a wayshower.

"When people make their decisions whether to go the way of honor or dishonor, there is a process that goes on at subconscious levels. Each soul is able to see the souls of the highest and most dedicated people on earth as well as those of a lower nature. At inner levels of their being they can survey the religious communities of the world and see the standards the devotees keep and the condition of their souls.

"If the standards of those devotees and the condition of their souls are not of the highest levels they could be, then the rest of humanity has the excuse of saying, for instance, 'Well, if these devotees who are connected with Elizabeth Clare Prophet have this as their standard, why should we reach any higher?'

"So you see, beloved, it is like the proverbial handkerchief that I used to pull out of my pocket to demonstrate the principle. [Messenger holds up handkerchief.] This is the handkerchief. I am holding it up at the center; the four corners are at the lowest point. The center represents the one who has the highest attainment. As I raise the handkerchief, the first to rise is the highest. And as that one goes up, so all of those who are part of this cloth of humanity rise also.

"This simple example illustrates that the humanity of your time can rise no higher than the highest among you, but they can fall lower than the lowest of the low of those who are not even in this Community. You see in the concept of the handkerchief that all are dots making up the whole, each at his own level and standard. There is no separation. Community is one. There are castes, there are levels of attainment, and at inner levels you all recognize this.

"And so, those who have much, of them much is required. As Jesus said: 'For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.'

"You have much, beloved; of you much is required. And the greatest gift that you can record upon the ethers of the planet is the example of your discipleship, the example of joy in discipleship, joy in the Path, joy in the Mystery School, joy in self-giving, joy in the great dispensation you have of family, joy in marching to the drumbeat of the Holy Kumaras, fulfilling your desire to go straight to the mark of the high calling in Christ Jesus."

"Blessed ones, the chela is striving on the path of personal Christhood. And when that Christhood is bestowed, then he wears the mantle not only of the chela or disciple but also of his own Holy Christ Self.

"The chela, before becoming that Shepherd, does become—on occasion, from time to time, and often —the vessel of his Christ Self. By and by, as this becomes a perpetual vigil of the hours, the mantle descends and the Christ does not leave that one, even if that one may temporarily lose his balance or become out of alignment.

"You see, an office, once granted by the Lord God, is not withdrawn as one would snatch from You a cape, then drop it again, then snatch it again. This is not the way of the Great White Brotherhood. When we see fit to bestow the mantle of chela, we stand by that chela.

"Thus, not all who are students of ours do we count as chelas. For a chela is someone with whom we share our very life and breath. Thus, a relationship of trust must be established.

" . . . In the same manner, the one who has been seen consistently to strive to outpicture that Christhood does eventually, by initiation of Maitreya and Jesus and his own Christ Self, attain to a certain equilibrium in the manifestation of Christhood—not giving us the ups and downs of inconstancy, not being here one day and there another.

"Thus, the passing of initiation in each office is required. And thus, you see that the Christed ones must also be equal to the task of bearing that Christ Light.

"Beloved hearts, this office of Christ formerly occupied by your Messengers and still occupied by your Messengers is the true assignment of yourselves. You, the direct initiates of our call, are expected not to remain chelas forever—forever seeking the Truth but never coming to the knowledge of that Truth, to borrow a phrase from the apostle.

"Chelaship may be comfortable because the chela may yet depend upon the Christed One or the Master. I admonish you that those who have our direct word and blessing must strive not only to rise but to pull down the full power of the office of Christhood.

"When you, therefore, are initiated directly by me through the Messenger, it is a goad to compel you to a higher consciousness, to the Mind of Christ—to the strength of that Mind, to the love of that Mind, to the wisdom and the courage of that Presence!

"You may also receive chelaship from the teachings and from one another, but the action of initiation to Christhood must come from the embodied Witness.

" . . . Just as the Christed ones are striving to be one with the Father and to embody the I AM, so all who move forward in the scale of hierarchy maintain their present office while striving to embody the elements and the jewels of light of the next.

"Thus is the link of hierarchy sustained by those who have the capacity to live in the present, to take dominion over the past and past karma—personal and planetary—and to live in the future, where they perceive and look upon the goal daily and see themselves already robed in white and reigning with the saints in heaven. It is necessary to be able to face and to contain the past, present, and future compartments of time and space and thus to one day transcend them all at the point of Infinity.

"Blessed ones, when you challenge those who wear the mantle of staff, in this manner of criticism, you are impugning, therefore, the office of Messenger, who has given the assignments, as well as of the Darjeeling Council. And I counsel you today that you are moving in treacherous waters to allow yourselves to be so seized by the conceit and pride of the carnal mind when, in fact, you have known from the beginning why you were coming to this mystery school—for the very defeat of that mind and to become the humble servant and chela at the altar of Serapis, at the altar of Christ, being willing to take the first and necessary steps of putting on the mantle of student. Thus, I will shortly speak with those who have retained that propensity to be critical of this staff.

" . . . I promise you this: Neither God nor the Great White Brotherhood will ever desert the one who stands steadfast and makes the call. Listen well: stands steadfast and makes the call. One must have both steadfastness of purpose and the immediate response of the call. This is the Alpha and the Omega of your protection. We stand by it. We obey the Law as we must also remain true to the mantle of our office.

"And we say to you, beloved ones: We expect you in the halls of Luxor at the conclusion of this embodiment! And we expect mighty fruits to be borne by you of achievement for the securing of the Great White Brotherhood, that this generation of Light, this office, this I AM Race shall not perish from the earth!

"To the victory of the Light in God-government and the economy, I am pledged.

"I seal you now in the fire of the will of God."

"And he did challenge therefore the priesthood, the classes who denied to the poor the full flowering of that Spirit. And he preached to the poor and he gave them back the dignity of life. And for this they who held the reins of power in religion sought to take his life as they did later in Palestine.

"Jesus gave to his own disciples that confirmation that thiks John the Baptist was Elias come again, thereby ratifying the teaching of reincarnation.

"Men may tamper with scripture. They may rewrite the codes of law to suit themselves and their lowered and lowering standards . . . They may attempt to divide the body of God upon Earth by religious schism and argumentation, by placing the emphasis upon the letter of the law. We have seen enough of inquisition in our time!

"Beloved hearts of light, you see that the return to discipleship is necessary . . . And the imitation of the path of Jesus Christ is surely our Calling and our Teaching . . . And that Teaching is ongoing no matter what is said in their mosques or synagogues or temples . . . The wedding garment is the spiritual body that you weave with the Word and the Work of God . . . The overwhelming proof is on the side of the path of discipleship.

"What is transpiring upon this planet, I tell you, is the result of the softness of religion itself and a dearth of religious leadership!"

" . . . Those who have sought to attain by a set of rules, beloved, may at this point suffer temporary insanity or a prolonged lapse of sense of identity. They pale into a fear that is perhaps beyond any fear they have known. All of a sudden they have no moorings, no coordinates. They are as blind men and sense themselves so.

" . . . Therefore if you have not internalized the Word, the Word incarnate in Jesus Christ by assimilating his light essence—his body and blood, then the inner standard will not be developed and you can be taken only to that level where there are yet maps and rules that you can lean upon. This is good exercise, beloved, but never true attainment."

" . . . You can come into congruency with the aura of an ascended master long before you have the full God-mastery of your soul. Thus, beloved, the violet flame is a gift of God for many purposes, and one of these purposes is to establish a point of transition between the place where you are now and the place you desire to be, which is the next level, or gradation, of the vibration of light.

" . . . The emphasis upon intellectual development to the disregard and neglect of the soul and the heart and the spiritual senses surely has brought the pall upon civilization that you see in the very streets of this city and throughout the world.

" . . . Thus when you think your prayers are not answered, be still and know that I, Leto, have heard and have answered. And the call has compelled the answer, but you have not been willing to recognize the answer as it has come to you because you expected an entirely different answer to come to your life.

" . . . Therefore the answer to prayer always gives you the next step, the key to the next block that must be put in position in your life. Were we to answer your ultimate prayer before the foundation was laid, you would come to naught and you would discover that it was an unwise gift and then perhaps in your anger [you] would demand of us as to why we had given you something when you were not ready to receive it.

" . . . All this Elohim have planned that you might have physical vehicles to move in the physical octave. If there is such precision in the handiwork of God, then I tell you there must be exactness in your own handiwork. Do not depart from the sense of science when you enter the spiritual realm. The spiritual realm is all science, the science that embraces a cosmos, both in the mathematics and in the principles of physics.

"So realize, beloved, that precipitation is based upon exactness. Exactitude is the call of the hour, the sharpening of the mind. You can have all things from God from the Great Central Sun if you will crack the formula. You will never crack it without love and without forgiveness and without the joy of the Lord in doing a service that will render benefits to life rather than glory to your human ego. You can rest assured that when you truly serve to set life free, beloved, God will give you many means to accomplish that end....

"May you pray diligently [for the protection of your alchemical work] no matter what your field of service.

" . . . I say you are fully worthy because God is in you! And when you deprecate yourself and when you disparage yourself, [making yourself] feel worthless, you are denying the God that is in you. And I say, shame on you for taking that posture! For God has given to you a great grace and a great ability, and therefore let gratitude and praise abound! And may you take this science of the Word as an empowerment, truly the empowerment, as great as that of any adept that might come to you from the Eastern chambers.

"This very science of the Word itself that is yours by the gift of Saint Germain is an initiation transferred directly and personally to you by the Hierarch of the Age of Aquarius. You should appreciate what it means to have Saint Germain sponsor an entire lifewave to receive the violet flame. It is indeed a cosmic initiation. It must not be taken for granted. It is the elixir of life. It is the universal solvent. It is the key to your victory."

"The basis of trust is the bottom line of chelaship. When trust is broken the cord and the tie is snapped because the Master has only so much time, cycles and energy by which he can give to you a dispensation of his sponsorship. And when you prove yourself untrustworthy again and again and
again, then by cosmic law he must withdraw and say, 'The basic lesson in life must be learned. You must be able to be trustworthy in your word, in your deed, in your thoughts and in your feelings.' So trustworthiness is based on our devotion to the will of God; it's based on faith."
